The Swan River Trust's River Guardians program is coordinating a photographic competition for the event, open to all amateur photographers.
The theme of the competition is:

Perth's iconic rivers - show us what you love about the rivers

The photographs will be on show at the Festival

             Keep Our Rivers Healthy

The Swan and Canning rivers are a valuable social, environmental and scenic resource for all West Australians. Every day thousands of Perth  residents and visitors to our great city, enjoy the beauty and amenities that our wonderful rivers offer.

However, like many waterways around the world, our rivers are stressed. The expanding population as well as the impacts of climate change and high nutrient loads, are placing extra pressure on our rivers.

But by changing our behaviours, and working together - we can help the rivers.

Drop into the Healthy Rivers Expo at Riverside Gardens in Bayswater and learn more about what you can do around your home and in your garden to improve the rivers’ health.

Become a River Guardian - we can all help the Swan and Canning Rivers

Helpful tip – use slow release phosphorus-free fertiliser in your garden and reduce the amount of nutrients leaching into the groundwater and ending up in the rivers.
